Bishop Ed was able to meet up with two families that VLI Partners helped to free from brickland slavery this year. Both families are thriving and working. The man in the family on the right is saving money to buy a rickshaw vehicle so that he can have his own business.

This is the family of Shoukat and Samreen with their children Simer and Iram. They have lived on this brick kiln for seventeen years; their young children have known no other life. Their story is much like other families who live here. Samreen's s father received a loan from an owner to pay for medical treatment for his wife. Sadly, she died, and he had no way to repay the debt, so he moved his family to the brick kiln to work it out. Samreen does not know the amount of the original loan, however today the debt is $2110 dollars. She and her husband and children work to pay off the ever-increasing debt.
They attended a crusade meeting and gave their lives to God and after that, began to attend church, even inviting the brick kiln owner to attend with them. The owner would not attend and instead, began abusing the family. They faced daily persecution from the owner because of their faith and they prayed for their freedom. However, Samreen told the VLI team that she would continue to praise God whether or not they are ever free. Within three days of Bishop Ed recounting this story, VLI Partners had given more than enough to free this family. They are now free!
